A knowledgeable group of committed and seasoned professionals from Canada and South Africa form the core of Platinum Group's team. Both on the ground in South Africa and managing the public company in North America, this group has been assembled to drive Platinum Group to its goal of being a platinum producer.

With experience in mine exploration, development, and operations, each member is responsible for key deliverables that fit into the overall mine development plan.

Our mine development and construction plan is on an owner managed and contractor constructed model. We are working closely with DRA and experienced engineering and construction management firm with over 50 platinum projects in their experience. Our mining contractor is JIC a firm with more than 6,000 employees in South Africa. We have good relationships with both of these firms and this will play an important part of our safe and efficient work in the Phase two construction. 

In addition to the senior team members, Platinum Group has completed the exploration and deposit modeling tasks with a carefully selected team of geologists, geostatisticians and technologists. As an important asset of the company, PTM has encouraged and recruited historically disadvantaged South Africans to participate at all levels of the project, including management, as set out in the Mining Charter.

R. Michael Jones, B.A.SC., P.Eng
President, CEO & Director

R. Michael Jones brings 25 years of experience as a professional geological engineer and has been involved with the raising of over $450 million for exploration, mining development and production. He was a founder of Glimmer Resources Inc. and was responsible for the discovery of the Glimmer Gold mine, now Blackfox, in Ontario. During a six-year tenure as President of Cathedral Gold Corp., Mr. Jones ran a producing mining company and was involved in the review of a feasibility study and financing for a $1 billion mining project during two years as Vice President with Aber Resources.

Mr. Jones is President, CEO & Director of West Kirkland Mining Inc.; a director of Nextraction Energy Corp.; a co-founder and former director of MAG Silver Corp.; a co-founder of former director of West Timmins Mining which was purchased in 2009 by Lake Shore Gold Corp. Mr. Jones served on the Securities Policy Advisory Committee of the British Columbia Securities Commission for six years and holds a B.A.Sc. in geological engineering from the University of Toronto.

Frank Hallam, B.B.A., C.A.
CFO, Corporate Secretary & Director

Frank R. Hallam was the original founder of New Millennium Metals Corp. He was previously an auditor in the mining practice with Coopers and Lybrand. Mr. Hallam has extensive operating and financial experience at the senior management level with several publicly listed resource companies and has over ten years of experience working in East and South Africa, including his role as CFO and Director with Tan Range Exploration. In addition to his involvement raising over $400 million for exploration, mining development and production, he has set up and administered exploration offices in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Eritrea, among others and has been involved in negotiating and managing property deals with Anglo Platinum Ltd., Barrick Gold Corporation, Johannesburg Consolidated Investments and Newmont Mining Corporation.

Mr. Hallam is CFO, Corporate Secretary & Director of West Kirkland Mining Inc.; a director of Nextraction Energy Corp.; a director and co-founder of MAG Silver Corp.; and director and co-founder of West Timmins Mining that was purchased by Lake Shore Gold Corp. in 2009. He is a chartered accountant and has a degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University.

Peter C. Busse, P.Eng.
Chief Operating Officer

Peter is a mining engineer with over 40 years of experience in the mining industry including extensive knowledge of mine management, mine engineering and mine design. He has been manager and leader at eight operations throughout North American and Africa , including seven years as Director of Mining and Vice President of Mining, for Falconbridge, Kinross and Trillion.

He has been involved in feasibility studies, increased capacities at mines, turnaround situations and introduction of new technologies. Peter's experience also includes community relations, public relations, government relationships and joint ventures. He has successfully instituted procedures for reduction of loss and improvements in safety.

Prior to joining Platinum Group Metals Ltd., Peter was General Manager, Projects for Procon Mining and Tunneling, a contractor developing access declines and underground infrastructure for the start of two Canadian diamond mines. 

Barry W. Smee, Ph.D., P.Geo
Director & Advisory Board Member

Dr. Barry Smee is a renowned geologist and geochemist with more than 40 years of experience in the mining industry. He is a founder of Smee and Associates, an international geology and geochemistry consulting firm. He has been an advocate of the use of geochemistry in exploration programs and has provided guidence in the use of quality control methods for major mining firms and Canadian stock exchanges and regulatory bodies. Dr. Smee is also a member of the technical Advisory Board for Platinum Group. He holds a B.Sc. in chemistry and geology from the University of Alberta and a Ph.D. in geochemistry from the University of New Brunswick. He has been awarded the CIM J.C. Sproule Memorial Plaque for outstanding contribution to geochemical knowledge in Canada.

Eric Carlson
Director

Mr. Carlson has over 17 years of real estate investment, development, and management experience. Mr. Carlson has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Anthem Properties Corp. since July 1994. Anthem is an investment group that specializes in the acquisition and management of Class B retail, multi-family residential and office properties in high growth markets in Canada and the United States. Mr. Carlson has also been President and a director of Nextraction Energy Corp. (formerly Kruger Capital Corp.) since December 1992. Mr. Carlson is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia.

Iain McLean, B.Sc. Eng. (ARSM), M.B.A., MIMMM. C.Eng.
Director

Iain McLean has business experience in mine operations and senior management positions in technology companies. Currently, Mr. McLean is Vice President, North America for Gemcom Software International, based in Vancouver, B.C. Immediately prior to joining Gemcom he held executive positions with two renewable energy companies based in the UK. Past roles include CEO of Municipal Software Corporation and Vice President and General Manager of Total Care Technologies, a subsidiary of Ad Opt Technologies Inc. Mr. McLean holds a degree in mining engineering from the Royal School of Mines, a Diploma in Archaeology from the University of Leicester and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Timothy Marlow, C. Eng,
Director

Tim Marlow has more than 30 years of mining engineering and mine operating experience in North America, South America, Africa and Asia. He has held roles ranging from project engineer, services and maintenance superintendent, and general manager to Vice President of Operational Excellence for a multi mine group. His mining and project experience spans the world and he has specific African experience in Ghana and Zambia.

Mr. Marlow is a graduate of the Camborne School of Mines and is registered as a C.Eng, Registered Charter Engineer in the UK. He is a member of the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy UK and a Qualified Person as defined by NI-43-101 for mining.

Kris Begic
Vice President, Corporate Development

Mr. Begic has served as the Manager of Corporate Development for Platinum Group since 2008 and has been intimately involved in the growth of the company since that time. He has over fifteen years of experience in the mining industry and capital markets and has been involved with the raising of over $400 million for various exploration and development projects globally. His efforts are focused on project generation, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, investor relations and marketing. Mr. Begic graduated from the University of Toronto in 1992 with a B.A. in History and Political Science.

Mlibo Mgudlwa, B.juris, LLB
Vice President, Platinum Group Metals (RSA) (pty) Ltd.

Mr. Mgudlwa has experience in corporate governance, contracting, litigation and general business management. He has practiced as a Senior State Advocate for the High Court of Johannesburg and was admitted as an attorney in 2002. He holds an LLB degree from the University of Durban Westville and a Post-graduate Diploma in Corporate Law from Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg). After 12 years in the legal field, Mr. Mgudlwa ventured into business, holding the position of CEO of Africa Wide Investment Holdings and is a Director of Sarong Investment Holdings, a company with interests in agriculture. Mr. Mugdlwa is also a non-executive director of Wesizwe (WEZ-JSE), the 26% partner in the WBJV Project 1 Platinum mine in construction.

Schalk W B Engelbrecht, B.Com (Acc), MBA
Finance Manager, Platinum Group Metals (RSA) (pty) Ltd.

Mr. Engelbrecht has 20 years' experience in the mining industry in South Africa, including De Beers (Internal Auditing and Production Accounting), SouthernEra Resources (Financial Manager), Lonmin (Senior Manager Shared Services and Senior Manager Finance). He holds a B.Com in Accounting as well as a MBA qualification.

Mr. Engelbrecht joined PTM (RSA) in May 2013 and is responsible for the management of all finance matters related to PTM (RSA) and its subsidiaries in South Africa.

Arkright Mangaka
Group SHE Manager, Platinum Group Metals (RSA) (pty) Ltd.

Arkright started his Mining career with (JCI) Johannesburg Consolidated Investment Company where he worked as a Learner Official: Mining, Production Shift Supervisor and Mine Overseer in their Platinum division called Rustenburg Platinum Mines, before branching into Health & Safety with the Department of Minerals & Energy where he worked as a Mine Health and Safety Inspector. He obtained a full time three years Occupational Health & Safety management qualification from Technikon Witwatersrand. He obtained valuable practical experience in Senior Health and Safety roles with Exxaro Coal, Jindal Mining and African Rainbow Minerals. The positions involved a vast range of health and safety challenges, not the least being negotiating and implementing strategies within South African Mining industrial.

Arkright has been in the safety profession for more than 15 years. His educational background, experience and personal involvement for all these years has assisted him in carrying out his duties in creating a culture that lead to safety excellence.

Pran Maharaj, P. Eng
WBJV Project Manager

Mr. Maharaj is a registered Professional Engineer with 22 years' experience in mining, including De Beers (Project Engineer and Construction Manager), South Deep (Capital Projects Manager), Engineering and Projects co. (Construction, Operations and Commissioning Manager), as well as Northam Platinum (Project Engineer). He holds a B.sc. Mechanical Engineering degree, as well as a MAP (Management Advancement Program) qualification.

Mr. Maharaj joined PTM (RSA) in November 2011 and is responsible for the management of the WBJV Project.

Mathys Johannes Botha, Diploma Geology
Senior Geologist

Mr. Botha has more than 12 years' experience in the South African mining industry. His career began as a geophysical and geological field assistant with Goldfields Mining and development. Mr. Botha received underground mining experience on Harmony Gold Mining's Number 4 Shaft as well as Harmony's Doornkop shaft. In 2002 he joined Cluff Platinum PLC where he was involved in exploration and the in-house XRF laboratory. More recently Mr. Botha worked as Project Geologist with Global Geo Services where he was involved with resource calculation and Geostatistics. 

Michael Wasserfall, B.A, LLB
Corporate Counsel

Mr. Wasserfall is a senior attorney with over 25 years' experience working for mining companies in South Africa including Johannesburg Consolidated Investment Company Limited and Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited. Mr. Wasserfall's duties as legal counsel include maintaining and converting mineral rights and co-ordinating future mining authorization applications, social and labour plans, environmental planning and mine, health and safety legal requirements, legal compliance and corporate governance.

Baiphapi Dorah Sethaelo, B.Soc. Science
SLP Manager, Platinum Group Metals (RSA) (pty) Ltd.

Ms. Sethaelo holds the following 10 years' experience in her career: Billiton Energy Coal South Africa (Specialist: Community Affairs); Department of Mineral Resources (Assistant Director: Social and Labour Plan); Department of Transport, Roads and Community Safety (Assistant Director: Social Crime Prevention) as well as the Department of Social Development (Community Development Officer). She holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Development Studies and Industrial Psychology.

Ms. Sethaelo joined PTM RSA in April 2013 as the person entrusted with the implementation of the Company's Social and Labour plan commitments.

Len Backhouse
Mine Designer

Mr. Backhouse has 26 years' experience in mining, including the roles of chief statistician, mine designer and G2 project leader at Johannesburg Consolidated Investments and shaft planning coordinator and Organic Growth Capital Project team member at Harmony Gold Mining. 

Frank Lagiglia
Communications Manager

Frank was appointed Communications Manager in October, 2012. Frank has held senior investor relations roles and created the investor relations strategy with several publically traded companies with a focus on mining which include production stage companies such as China Gold International Resources, and numerous exploration companies. Frank brings a vast global network, valuable experience, integrity, and a solid work ethic to Platinum Group Metals.

Neil Clegg, BA
Manager - Business Development

A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Mr. Clegg joined Platinum Group Metals in January 2012 after a career in the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade [DFAIT]. In DFAIT, Mr. Clegg principally managed Canada-China economic and commercial relations issues, including the sale of Candu reactors to China in 1995. More recently, in 2005-2009, he managed the Canadian High Commission Trade Office in Johannesburg, responsible for Canada's economic and commercial relations with southern Africa.

Enoch Mawasha
Accounting Manager, South Africa

Mr. Mawasha has 20 years of experience in the mining industry, of which the last 8 were spent with Anglo Platinum in their Financial Accounting Department. Previous experience included exposure to gold mines in Johannesburg Consolidated Investments and Harmony Gold.

Lesley Ann Morrow
GIS/Draughting, South Africa

Les Morrow joined Nuclear Fuels Corporation of S.A. in 1986 as a Laboratory Assistant conducting Volumetric, Gravimetric and Instrumental analyses.  In 1991 Les terminated her stay there and explored various avenues until launching her mining career with Randfontein Estates Limited in January 1998 as a CAD Draughtsperson.  Duties included Survey, Statutory plans (legal) and Geological plans (mainly Microstation and some Datamine).  After gaining experience Les spent ± 2 years with Harmony Group Projects where areas of responsibilities incorporated Geological visualization of field data, map compilations, ArcView GIS and Microstation co-ordination regarding geological and survey data verification, draughting, Mine design and scheduling.  After the complete closure of this department it was back to the Shaft for ± 3 years as Shaft Survey Statistician.

Les joined PTM (RSA) in May 2007 and is currently responsible for all Statutory plans, ArcView GIS, Microstation plans and draughting needed by PTM (RSA).

 A.J. Ali
Project Finance Advisor

Mr. Ali is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Avanti Mining Inc. He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant with over 25 years' experience in the mining industry and has been involved with over $2B (USD) in project financings for global mining projects to date. Most recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer and a Director of Centenario Copper Corporation before its acquisition by Quadra FNX Mining and Chief Financial Officer of EuroZinc Mining Corporation (2004 to 2006) before it merged with Lundin Mining. Mr. Ali was the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Resource 21 (1998 to 2003), a subsidiary of the Boeing Company, formed to produce satellite-based imaging data and information services. Mr. Ali was the Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Vista Gold Corp. (1992 to 1998). Prior to the merger of Peak Gold, Metallica Resources and New Gold Inc., Mr. Ali served as the Director and the chair of the Audit Committee of Metallica Resources Inc. Mr. Ali is also a member of the Financial Executives International and the Institute of Corporate Directors. He is currently a Director of Explorator Resources Inc. and Chair of its Audit Committee.

Dan Rogness
Advisor

Mr. Rogness is an independent financial consultant specializing in capital markets, risk management and treasury. He is a Canadian Chartered Accountant with over 25 years' experience in senior management roles at Teck Resources Ltd and has been involved in numerous financings including gold loans, convertible and exchangeable debentures, bank loans and project financings.

Gordon Chunnett
Advisor

Mr. Chunnett was formerly the Head of Exploration for Anglo Platinum where he worked for 28 years of the 31 years with Anglo associated companies and supervised a large team on several continents. Mr. Chunnett qualified at Rhodes University and has extensive experience in platinum mining, mine exploration and development, exploration for PGE'S in South Africa, Canada, China and Zimbabwe. He has been involved in resource evaluation, mine planning and platinum mine production scheduling.
